Future plans?? & 15 min Cool down Flow

Wow! It’s been awhile since I published a video. April was a stressful time at work and I sort of went MIA. It’s been a reflectful 6 months and am ready to do what I love. It honestly took me talking to my dad to light some fire up my tuckus…..LOL. I let my “Debbie Downer” side take over and have been in a funk for awhile. However, I’m getting closer to figuring out my dharma. Although I’m not fond of what I’m currently doing, I know (without a doubt) that I love to teach and help people. I just haven’t found exactly which way I’m meant to help. Although I’m certified in yoga, and soon meditation, I feel that I want more than just to teach yoga. I want to help people as a whole, getting back to the things they love. This thought has stemmed from my ongoing back issues. It’s sometimes prevented me from working out and practicing yoga, so it’s become something that I am interested in helping others with.

I’ve sat and thought about this tremendously. In the last (almost) 3 years, I’ve been super interested in the body and learning about how we move, stand, etc. and how it affects our overall muscles, posture, and way of being. I’ve contemplated A LOT of things, and finally, after talking to my dad, I’ve started researching careers that deal with this. Another event that got me thinking was my husband breaking one of his fingers. He’s been having to go to Occupational Therapy (OT) and it made me realize how important your body is as a whole and how when one part is off, it affects your overall movement. He loves to lift weights, and for the last month, he has not been able to do it, so that had him bummed. So it got me thinking. My first thought was becoming a Physical Therapist (PT), however, as of 2020, I saw that you have to get a doctorate. I was a little bummed because that’s a lot of money and time. I believe it said that it could take up to 8 years to get your DPT. I just don’t know if I want to invest all that money and time while staying where I’m not happy. So….I started looking at alternative options that are similar (dealing with the body as a whole, movement, helping, teaching people). There were two options that caught my attention.

The two options that interested me were becoming a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) or a Physical Trainer (with an additional certification in Corrective Exercise Specialist). Being a PTA, you would assist Physical Therapists (PTs) and other staff that deals with rehabilitation. What I liked was the description said that “PTAs work more closely and spend more time with patients than PTs” which is what I like. Although at home I’m an introvert, I do feel like I’m in my happy place when I’m helping others. The great thing that caught my attention, is that you need an A.S. to become a PTA. Therefore, it would be 2 or less years to become certified. Another option is going the physical trainer route. I like how NASM focuses on Corrective Exercise Specialists. This area is what I’m most interested in. Analyzing the client/patient’s movement patterns and then determining the imbalances they have and fixing/improving them so that they can have a better quality of life. Getting people back to doing what they love is what is calling me. Depending on what I choose, I feel that with my additional yoga and meditation certification, it can only enhance my knowledge more in helping people as a whole (mind, body, spirit).

15 min Cooldown Flow

I’m excited to finally be posting this video!! I actually recorded it back in May, however, the recording was bad and I never went back to re-record it until recently! I have lower back issues (currently in PT), so I’ve had to quickly figure out what exercises make me feel good, and which ones don’t. This is a quick cool down that I do after working out. It makes my hips, back, and hamstrings feel good afterwards. I hope you enjoy it too!

15 minute Cool down flow to help after working out!!
