Self-Practice

Another week has gone by! Where I am, things have slooooowly but surely started opening. I know it’s not the same everywhere, but it feels a little somewhat normal. We’re staying close to home and still only go out here and there, but it’s nice to have the option. I hope it starts getting like that everywhere.

I’m excited because this week I am 94% done with my 200 YTT!! Wohoo!!! Today I just finished my 4th sequence and Asana dissection form. I just need to type it up and upload it! Next Friday, I will be doing my final project. So grateful to have friends that will be my guinea pigs through Zoom!! 🙂

What I do

As I get more confident, and am learning more, I am discovering that I’m slowly loosing the shyness in recording myself. A couple of days ago, I recorded a version of the self-practice I do every morning. I was actually decently dressed (LOL), so I was OK recording it. I sped up the video, so it wouldn’t take so long, but I normally do 30-40 minutes early in the morning. I just wanted to give ya’ll an idea of what I normally do.

My self-practice

My goal is to be on the mat by 7 am, 99% of the times it’s in my PJ’s. LOL! I gotta tell ya, it makes a great start to my day. I feel awake, my body feels warm and stretched, and sciatica is (mostly) gone. Sometimes (maybe 1x-2x a week) I am super tired or super sore from the previous day’s workout. Therefore, those days I primarily stick to meditation and stretching. I avoid doing a lot of tougher asanas. As I’ve mentioned previously, I listen to my body and do what it needs.

When doing your own asana, no need to be afraid of trying out what comes to your mind….or doing what your body wants to do. Think of what you’ve done in yoga classes, and put a short sequence together. Try is out, it’s fun!!
